Mann Library Art Exhibit: Earth Pattern: An Exhibit by Jay Hart
November 8, 2007-January 10, 2008
The Mann Gallery's November/December exhibit will feature the map-oriented work of Jay Hart of Trumansburg. His large inkjet prints show elevation surfaces and natural color imagery of places both exotic and familiar. "Earth Pattern" will be sampled in regional views of polar landscapes and deserts, low relief terrain and major ranges, and the scatter of mankind's markings. The exhibit runs until January 10 in the Mann Gallery, 2nd floor of the Albert R. Mann Library.

What's New in Organic Dairy and Field Crop Research
December 13, 10:30am -2:30 pm, video conference locations statewide and in Jordan Hall on the Cornell Campus
Demand for organic products is on the rise. Join researchers from Cornell University and Alfred State College to hear the latest reports from a video conference location in your area. This meeting is a collaboration of the NY Farm Viability Institute, NY Certified Organic and Cornell's Organic Program Work Team. Topics include: Organic Dairy Market: Recent developments in the organic dairy market including efforts by the Organic Dairy Initiative to strengthen New York's position in the organic market; Nitrogen and Field Corn, which includes a new organic N test for corn; Corn Variety Testing: IPM Report on fly management, including fly traps, Beauveria fungal pathogen, parasitoid releases, and dung beetles; a new soybean pest ID pamphlet; small grain comparison plots; udder health and the dairy farm transition to organic production; cropping systems and increases in soil health.

Forestry Internet Seminar Connecting Owners and Managers from Across the Nation

The ForestConnect Internet Seminar Series will hold a webcast “Don't Degrade Your Woodlot,” a live and interactive presentation using research-based information to teach strategies to help participants better enjoy and utilize forest property.
Seminars occur on the third Wednesday of each month. Each webcast is provided live, twice. The initial broadcast each month is from noon to 1:00 PM with a repeat live broadcast the same day from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, Eastern Time. The noon broadcast is recorded for subsequent viewing on the ForestConnect website at any time. Participation is as easy as a high-speed internet connection via a web browser. Participants will connect to a secure Cornell Cooperative Extension server to join the presentation. Participants must pre-register once, without charge, at www.ForestConnect.info . Email notification of internet URL details will be sent to everyone registered. A recent feature useful to some participants is the availability of continuing education credits from the Society of American Foresters for its Certified Foresters.
