CALSconnect is migrating to electronic distribution, and this is the first issue in the new format. Now called eCALSconnect, the objective of this electronic newsletter is to be a forum for the active and open exchange of ideas and information among the faculty, staff, and leadership team of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University.
There will be four issues during the academic year in September, December, March, and June. Via email, we will disseminate a digest version with links to full articles that are available on the Web. For those who prefer a hard copy, articles will be available in printable format.
We have developed a listserv to aid distribution. It includes administrators in CALS and in Day Hall, all CALS department chairs and directors, CALS professorial and other faculty, department business managers, graduate students, and the CALS Advisory Council.
We ask department chairs or their assistants to forward the email digest to others in their department, particularly staff and emeriti faculty. To ensure that the entire CALS community receives this valuable e-newsletter as well as the occasional eCALSconnect news flash that will be sent to the eCALSconnect listserv, we also strongly encourage staff to subscribe. That can be done on the bottom of the eCALSconnect home page at http://www.cals.cornell.edu/eCALSconnect/index.htm.
The CALS Communications team will handle all editorial and administrative tasks associated with eCALSconnect, including the call for submissions, content, copyediting, design, publication, and distribution. To contact the team, email calsconnect@cornell.edu.
Using email and the Web will make distribution of news from CALS to the internal College audience more inclusive, faster, easier to manage, and less expensive. We look forward to your feedback and your participation in this new publication.
I wish you the happiest of holidays. May the new year bring you a sense of peace and renewal.
Susan A. Henry, Ph.D.
