The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Ambassadors is a student-run, volunteer-based organization that works closely with the CALS Admissions Office. The goal of the organization is to provide prospective students and their families with a student's perspective on the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Cornell. In doing so, the Ambassadors organize and take part in a variety of activities including Open House and Transfer Day in the fall, Cornell Days and tours/panels in the spring, as well as hosting prospective students during their visit.
Alumni Relations
While much of our time is devoted to prospective Cornellians, we are also heavily involved in alumni relations. Ambassadors often accompany the CALS Dean to alumni get-togethers and dinners. This opportunity provides Ambassadors with enjoyable experiences and great networking opportunities.
Dean Relations
We are beginning our second year of having a special Dean's Liaison Committee made up solely of CALS students that meet periodically with Dean Henry to discuss problems and new ideas that they may have concerning the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
We Have Fun Too
Though we focus on enriching the prospective student's first impression of Cornell, we also have a lot of fun with the goal of maintaining the close knit nature of the organization. We consider ourselves a social organization, and make every effort possible to participate in social events. Throughout the year we enjoy having special guest speakers, taking tours of unique parts of Cornell, making visits to the Cornell Dairy Bar for ice cream, and of course having pizza parties.
Service
Ultimately, the CALS Ambassadors pride themselves on their service to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. With the commitment of our members, we consistently provide help to many facets of the Cornell Community.
