Describe your experience at CALS
Amazing! Never have I felt a part of an institution that really cares about improving our way of life. The personal growth that takes place is inevitable. As soon as I began my studies here in CALS, I was eager to join organizations that gave me the opportunity to succeed like the Collegiate FFA Organization and Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences Society (MANRRS). Though it was tough to meet new people and develop relationships, in just a matter of weeks you bond with people that are different and at the same time have similar passions as you. If you plan on changing the world, you've come to the right place.
Advice to a prospective student looking at CALS
Be proactive! Whether it is research, interning, or sports- make the decision, early, to get involved. Your days at Cornell will be much more memorable when you've spent your time wisely. If you find yourself with some extra time on your hands, you have a problem: lack of involvement. Get in, make changes and be changed.
Activities
Parliamentarian, Student Assembly; National Region I VP, Minorities in Agriculture Natural Resources and Related Sciences Society; Vice-President, Bridges to Community: Nicaragua; Agriculture Ambassador, National Collegiate FFA; Steering Committee, Roosevelt Institution; Member, CALS Dean Student Advisory Committee.
Hands-on Experience
At Cornell I have had the opportunity to work for the Agriculture Research Service (USDA) as their outreach coordinator developing connections with students, faculty and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
