Describe your experience at CALS
As a student in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences I have had many great opportunities which helped to shape my experience as a Cornell Student. The Career Development Office has helped me contact many alumni that are ecstatic to help give advice and guide me through decisions about my future career. I have worked closely with admissions of my college to help showcase CALS to prospective students, which is always a joy. The fact that I am able to take a multitude of courses outside of my College, as well as the sense of freedom I feel at CALS always reminds me of the excellent decision I made when I choose to apply here. I could not imagine myself anywhere else.
Advice to a prospective student looking at CALS
Do a thorough research of the majors offered here, CALS has many departments that explore areas of business, science, and the humanities. You would be surprised what you could find by simply flipping through the courses offered in the college. Visit the campus! Actually seeing the campus and picturing myself as a student is what helped me make my finally decision to attend, so if possibly come up to Ithaca and see Cornell for yourself. Look through the Career Development website and take a look at which types of jobs Cornell grads have.
Activities
CU Image Orientation, Leader Cornell Cheerleading, President of Urban Blaze, Programming assistant at Latino Living Center, CAMSP.
Hands-on Experience
While taking my research methods course (DSOC 213) I was able to help write, perform, analyze and present our class project to various professors and staff members in CALS. They were so ecstatic about what we had to say and had so many questions; it felt great to know that they were so eager to hear what we had to say.
Awards and Recognitions
Washington Metropolitan Scholar. While a resident at the Latino Living Center I received a Community Service Award each year.
