Describe your experience at CALS
As an Applied Economics and Management major, my courses combine the theoretical and pragmatic components of business. My professors are active in their various fields of instruction through their research and entrepreneurial endeavors. They’re actually connected to the world of business, which enables them present up-to-date, relevant illustrations; in addition to allowing them the privilege to call on their colleagues and contemporaries. It’s remarkable when you can read about a company in a textbook and have an executive from that same company present their insights from a real world view. Beyond the teaching experience gained from the professors, my fellow CALS students shaped my learning experience. Working alongside driven, focused, and intelligent individuals creates an environment of challenge and constantly reminds you to put forth your best effort.
Advice to a prospective student looking at CALS
Take advantage of the diverse range of classes offered throughout CALS, in addition to other colleges at Cornell. Don’t be afraid to follow your heart and cater to your interests. Enroll in courses because they will develop your current skill set and broaden your knowlege base; not solely because that course is required. If you care about the material you’ll work harder, learn more, and excel in the long run.
