Please remember that we strongly recommend that students submit the application and supplement online to expedite the processing of applications and to better serve you. All other required application materials should be submitted using the Transfer Admissions P.O. Box.
Choose an admission option
You may apply to start either fall or spring semester with the exception of Landscape Architecture which offers admission for the fall semester only.
We ask that you apply to a major within CALS. We also offer you the option of applying to a second choice major. We encourage you to learn as much about your intended major as possible. Visit the CALS preparatory course work requirements for more information.
*Special Requirements
The faculty have developed preparatory course work for each major which should be completed before transfer. Additionally, a portfolio is required for applicants to Landscape Architecture. Send your portfolio to:

1) Complete and earn a "B" or better in the required courses for intended CALS major see required preparatory courses.
2) Earn at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (3.5 for Biological Sciences).
3) Complete the Cornell transfer application and meet deadlines. Submit all official transcripts from high school and colleges attended. Submit reference. Submit essays. Submit mid semester grade report. Submit College Official's report.
4) Are in good academic and disciplinary standing at current and/or previous colleges.
Applicants must submit official transcripts from high school (or your GED certificate) as well as from each college attended.
We require one recommendation from a dean, an advisor or professor who can speak to your academic work. We also require the College Official's report; completed by the registrar, student records, or your advisor.
The SAT, ACT, and SAT Subject Tests are not required for transfer admission.
All International students are REQUIRED to submit their TOEFL and/or IELTS exam scores even if you currently or have previously attended school in the United States.
Midterm Report
The Midterm Report is required. Every applicant must complete the Midterm Report form by obtaining midterm grades and the faculty signature for all courses in progress. The Midterm Report may be mailed to the Transfer Admission P.O. Box or faxed to: 607-255-5452.
Academic Record and Preparatory Coursework
Transfer applicants should have a strong academic record at the college level. In general, a 3.0 (B) average (a 3.5 for biological sciences) or better is required to be considered as a competitive applicant. Additionally, applicants should have completed or have in progress the required preparatory coursework before applying. Applicants who have not met the GPA or course requirements are not competitive.
The admission committee will also look very closely at your academic interests. Given the specialized nature of the College and its majors, it is important for the admission committee to understand how your interests fit with our program offerings. In fact, an important part of our selection process is determining whether or not you are a good match with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Please share your experiences, and interests in your essay.
The admissions committee will take into account extracurricular, volunteer, and work experience related to your desired area of study and your career interests.
