At both the Plant Science Building and the Kenneth Post Laboratory building, there are laboratories specifically equipped for investigations of plant growth regulators, stress physiology, postharvest physiology, conventional and micropropagation (tissue culture), nutrition (foliar and soil analysis), and other physiological and anatomical studies. Controlled environment units range in size from reach-in growth cabinets to walk-in growth rooms.
The Guterman Bioclimatic Laboratory, about half a mile away from Plant Science, contains laboratories, growth chamber facilities and two teaching labs. Attached to the Kenneth Post and Guterman Bioclimatic Laboratories are extensive greenhouse facilities. These greenhouse ranges are part of the 155,000 square feet of College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) greenhouses on the Ithaca campus available for use by the Department of Horticulture and other CALS departments.
The Liberty Hyde Bailey Conservatory, a 50- by 100-foot greenhouse attached to the south side of the Plant Science Building. Constructed in 1930-31, the conservatory helps fulfill Bailey's vision of incorporating living plant collections into botany teaching. Visit the Conservatory website to take a virtual tour.
