Garden-Based Learning Internship, Department of Horticulture, Cornell University [Posted 11/17/2009]
This internship will provide the opportunity for a Cornell University student(s) with a demonstrated interest in garden-based learning to engage in an intensive experience over the course of two consecutive fall and spring semesters (Fall 2010 and Spring 2011). The student will work with the Cornell Garden-Based Learning Program to carry out activities with Kids Growing Food, a project of the NYS Ag in the Classroom Program.

The Arnold Arboretum is looking for serious students of plant science, botany, horticulture, nursery management, and landscape architecture. Twelve interns are accepted for 12- to 24-week appointments in the Arnold Arboretum's Living Collections department: 10 with grounds maintenance and 2 with the greenhouse and nursery. 10-week summer internship program at Callaway Gardens provides well-rounded experience throughout gardens including horticultural displays, butterfly center, fruit and vegetable production, trails, and greenhouse production. Education interns teach programs in natural history and home horticulture. Both internships are invaluable for futures in Botanical Garden Management, Landscape Design or Environmental Education.
