IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR GRADUATING SENIORS AND THEIR ADVISOR(S):
The CALS Application to Graduate is available now. Students will complete Part 1 with a staff member in the CALS Registrar's Office. Part I reviews college distribution requirements.
Deadlines for Submitting Parts I and II:
- January degree candidates - October 15th
- May degree candidates - December 19th
- August degree candidates - December 19th
There are two parts to the Application to Graduate:
- Part I outlines the college graduation requirements. It will be completed with a staff member in the CALS Registrar's Office. The student will review remaining college distribution requirements and diploma information (name, where the student wishes to pick up the diploma, etc...)
- Part II outlines the outstanding requirements for the major(s) and any minors. The student will complete this in-person with the faculty advisor(s). It is a paper-based form. When complete, Part II should be submitted to the CALS Registrar's Office by the application deadline.
Special Advisor Features of the Online Application to Graduate:
- Advisors can monitor student progress on the application to graduate by logging into DUST at https://dust.cals.cornell.edu.
- Click on "Track Senior Progress on Application to Graduate."
- A list of all senior advisees will open.
- Advisors can view the Part I of the Application to Graduate for all who have completed it.
- Advisors can track who has completed Part I and/or Part II of the Application to Graduate.
- Step-by-step instructions for completing Part I are available online.
- Student receive Part II of the Application to Graduate from the CALS Registrar's Office.
It is the Responsibility of each party to abide by the following requirements:
It is the Student's Responsibility to:
- Complete part 1 of the online application to graduate.
- Schedule a meeting with your faculty advisor(s) to complete part 2.
- Bring part 2 to the CALS Registrar's Office, 140 Roberts Hall.
- Seek clarification from your advisor and/or CALS Registrar's Office staff if graduation requirements are unclear.
- Retain a copy of the Application to Graduate for your records.
- Keep informed of Commencement information through the Commencement Office website at http:commencement.cornell.edu.
It is the Faculty Advisor's Responsibility to:
- To complete part 2 with the student, listing any outstanding requirements on the application (including courses that are currently in progress).
- Answer any student questions regarding major and/or minor requirements.
- Retain a copy of part 2 or request a copy from the CALS Registrar's Office for your records.
It is the CALS Registrar's Office Responsibility to:
- Update the graduation summary.
- Answer student questions regarding CALS graduation requirements.
- Graduate the student when all graduation requirements have been met.
- Order the student's diploma.
It is the Responsibility of the Commencement Office to:
- Contact graduating seniors regarding Commencement events (Caps and Gowns, event times, senior week, etc...), and
- to maintain the Commencement web site at www.commencement.cornell.edu.
