The CALS Dean's Student Advisory Council is a student organization that communicates relevant student issues to Dean Henry to better the students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Students from all departments and areas of interest are involved in the organization which deals with topics ranging from approving special funds for student organization or individual needs,to organizing student forums, improving the Ag Quad, and bringing concerns regarding degree requirements to the attention of those who can do something about it.
The Student Advisory Council's ultimate goal is to aid in the communication between students and the administration of CALS.
Most meetings are open to all students, so feel free to inquire about our next one and we'll let you know when and where it is. We welcome student input and hope to address any concerns you might have.
One of the responsibilities of the SAC is to review and approve funding requests for CALS student organizations or individuals looking to create or participate in trips, events, and other academically relevant pursuits. To apply, simply fill out the form, which can be downloaded below, and submit it to the SAC. We will review your request in a timely fashion and submit our recommendation to Dean Henry, who has final say in the appropriation of funds.

Over past years the Student Advisory Council has received funding applications from CALS-based organizations of various types and with differing objectives. A number of these applications have been selected to receive funding to help pay for a particular event. These groups are chosen based on how well they aid CALS in achieving its Vision and Mission Statements, which can be found here.
After each funded program has been completed, chosen organizations are required to construct a short document containing a detailed explanation of the event for SAC records. Below is an example of one type of group we have funded and the well written follow-up report that was submitted following their event.

Currently, the SAC is co-chaired by Joel Crist and Amy Jacobson, both Student Liaisons to the Dean. You can contact either of them with questions or concerns regarding the SAC.
