The College of Agriculture & Life Sciences (CALS) Career Development Office (CDO) along with Cornell Career Services hosts over 115 employers who conduct approximately 1263 interviews with more than 400 CALS students annually, utilizing a web-based on-campus recruiting system called Cornell CareerNet (CCNet). This system allows students 24-hour, on-line access to job descriptions and recruiting information.
It is important for CALS students to put the on-campus recruiting program into perspective as it does not serve all majors equally. Many graduating CALS students will not take part in the recruiting program at all. The majority of recruiters are large, private sector employers who recruit for business-related positions. Only a few public-sector and mid-size employers recruit each year. Approximately 20-25% of CALS job-seeking graduates get their jobs through on-campus recruiting. For the above reason, you should explore alternate ways for job searching.
If you plan to participate in the on-campus recruiting program, you must watch the Cornell CareerNet tutorial. This tutorial provides a brief overview to help you get started using CCNet by creating your profile. The comprehensive On-Campus Recruiting Tutorial gives a thorough introduction to On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) feature of the Cornell CareerNet system, and should take about 35 minutes to complete. Completion of the tutorial is required for eligibility to participate in OCR.
Fall 2009 resume submission begins on August 14; the earliest resume submission deadline is September 14. On-Campus interviews will take place September 29 - December 4.
Please see Cornell Career Services website for more information on on-campus recruiting.
