Marine Science Field Instructor
Key Largo FL
Looking for a job that gets you out on the ocean, in a subtropical
environment? MarineLab is seeking seasonal marine science instructors
for our education center in Key Largo, FL.
Job duties include leading discussions and labs on subtropical marine
topics such as seagrass, mangroves, and coral reefs; operating 26'
twin-hull boats and leading snorkeling field trips via boat to
investigate local marine communities; and supervising students in the
water.
Job Qualifications
Qualifications: great communication skills; outgoing and enthusiastic
personality; willingness to work long hours (nights and weekends)
during season; enjoyment of outdoors in subtropical sun and ocean
environments; BS or BA in marine science, marine biology, biology,
ecology, or related natural science; Open Water SCUBA certification;
small boat (20'-25') handling experience; teaching experience;
in-water supervision experience. Instructors receive certification in
Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR and Boating Safety as part of their training
period.
Position is seasonal, starting January 20 and ending July 20, 2010.
Paid training, shared housing provided onsite, most meals provided,
wireless access. Salary $300-$350/week, depending on qualifications.
Permanent positions possible.
