Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategy and Business Insight, you'll aggregate industry knowledge and develop innovative ways to share it with stakeholders.
Using your sophisticated approach to strategic intelligence, you’ll advise senior management on our operating environment and marketplace trends, and provide insights that will guide strategy execution.
Your expertise will help you monitor the industry and conduct stakeholder analyses. You have a master’s in agricultural economics or a related discipline and at least five years of experience (we’ll consider an equivalent combination of education and experience). You’ve managed complex projects, can analyze and discuss industry issues in a way that engages lay audiences, and can produce original and compelling written works. You believe in the power of teamwork and consistently communicate this belief with enthusiasm.

OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY
Receiving strategic direction from the Senior Director, Strategy and Business Insight, your main responsibility will be to create net new agricultural knowledge by performing economic and financial analysis encompassing macro and micro research trends. This position provides leadership and direction to FCC’s overall business strategy and economic research agenda by advising the Senior Director, Strategy and Business Insight, the Senior VP of Strategy, Knowledge and Reputation, as well as the President and CEO and other senior management on operating environment and marketplace trends, issues and opportunities. You’ll act as one of the corporation’s senior spokespeople on topics spanning the operating environment, marketplace trends, etc. You’ll also leverage FCC market and economic analysis externally with industry groups, stakeholders and the media.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Primary activities include:
• Analyzing and developing forecasts of current agriculture, economic and financial trends, and in particular, what it means for the agriculture industry and FCC; considering the ramification of a wide range of future issues, potential key external threats and opportunities for FCC and the agriculture industry.
• Performing research on evolving topics in the agriculture and economics field to identify new ideas and models that could have an impact on the risk assessment processes/models of the organization, thus creating new business opportunities or further mitigating economic/industry risks in existing business flows.
• Gathering and investigating critical information from a variety of sources and exploring new ideas and different viewpoints; sourcing information on best practice approaches adopted in the agriculture industry.
• Objective setting, setting critical analysis arguments and drawing accurate conclusions; exploring innovative problem-solving alternatives and generating workable solutions. Providing leadership and direction to FCC’s overall business strategy and economic research agenda.
Primary activities include:
• Working with the Strategy and Business Insight business unit to aggregate knowledge and innovations occurring around the world to share internally with front-line staff and externally in publications and other public endeavours.
• Researching and writing breakthrough business insights, contributing to the operating environment community of excellence, creating innovative published content as well as collaborating with Competitive Intelligence, Market Research and Portfolio Management.
• Understanding the organization’s objectives and links between the business units, organization, Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada and agriculture to identify current operating strengths and weaknesses. Acting as one of the corporation’s senior spokespeople on topics spanning the operating environment and marketplace trends.
Primary activities include:
• Building and sustaining relationships with a network of key people both internally and externally; recognizing shared agendas and working toward mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Collaborating with knowledge professionals internally and externally to leverage existing information for the benefit of the agriculture industry and FCC.
