Position
Description:
This position provides coordination and management
support to the Office of Academic Programs for the College of AGNR.
This position is amajor management
component of AGNR's scholarship program, undergraduate and graduate recruiting,
and alumni and scholarship donor networking. The position develops and
reconciles scholarship databases; works directly with student scholarship
recipients and scholarship donors; works with UM Foundation, College Park
Foundation, and private foundations. The position works with academic department
chairs and personnel on scholarships, assistantships, PCC materials, student
and alumni events such as Fall Bash and Maryland Day/AgDay. Position also
interfaces with the Deans office, with other campus deans' offices as needed,
with other LandGrantUniversities,
and with universities internationally regarding the Certificate in
International Agriculture and Natural Resources. Position also supervises a
non-exempt position and student workers.
Responsibilities:
The
Coordinator must have detailed knowledge of academic, administrative, and
financial operation policies and procedures for scholarship award(s) and
reconciliation.
A
knowledge of memorandum of understanding (MOU), criteria, and guidelines
for scholarship administration. Knowledge of financial aid procedures for
posting of awards to individual student's accounts.
Effective
communications skills; written and oral. Knowledge and ability to
effectively operate standard office electronic tools; Excel, MsWord, etc.
Knowledge
of software and methods to create graphic designs for brochures, flyers,
PowerPoint and poster presentations.
Knowledge
to compile data, create visual reports of results and prepare reports for
distribution.
Ability to work effectively with diverse
groups; students, faculty, staff, and public constituencies.
Ability otf coordinate and advise
Associate Dean regarding time management and priority setting.
Qualifications:
Job Qualifications
Required
–
Bachelor’s degree.
Ability to work nights and
weekend on occasion.
Preferred –
The ideal candidate will need a
minimum 3 years experience working in scholarship management or financial
aid.
Ideally the coordinator will
have a proven record of working in an academic setting with students,
donors, faculty and staff.
