Job Description

 

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), located in Philadelphia, PA, seeks a dynamic leader for the newly-created position of Director of Volunteer and Accreditation Services. The Director of Volunteer and Accreditation Services will provide leadership to the Commission in the development of a comprehensive strategic plan  for volunteer services which will include the recruitment, deployment, and retention of volunteers who serve as evaluators and in other roles for the Commission.

 

MSCHE is one of seven regional higher education accrediting organizations in the US.  Its area of responsibility includes over 500 colleges and universities in Delaware, DC, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, and various international locations. MSCHE is a voluntary membership peer review organization whose success in its evaluating processes depends on the availability of 700 to 800 trained individuals selected annually from a large pool of volunteers. Position: Reporting to the Executive Vice President and working collaboratively with the 21 MSCHE colleagues, the Director will be responsible for designing, planning, and implementing a volunteer management program and overseeing the accreditation processes which support the work of the volunteer teams. The Director will provide leadership in developing a plan which incorporates an intentional, strategic, and targeted approach that recruits, retains, and stewards volunteers from the MSCHE membership more comprehensively and in improving the processes that support that effort. The Director is a member of the management team and oversees a staff of 3.5 administrative and paraprofessional positions.

Job Qualifications

 

Qualifications: Master’s degree required with a minimum of three to five years supervisory experience in higher education; excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational, project and volunteer management experience required. Candidates must have the ability to work collaboratively with senior campus administrators, faculty, and MSCHE colleagues. Familiarity with accreditation standards and process preferred; the new Director will balance creativity with attention to detail and internal operations.
