COORDINATOR
OUTREACH, EDUCATION & MARKETING
Exempt Staff, Contingent II, Fill-Time Position
Location: Harry R. Hughes Center for Agro-Ecology, P.O. Box 169, Queenstown, MD
Purpose of the Position:
In conjunction with Members of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director and the Assistant Director help plan, coordinate, oversee and/or conduct educational, marketing, fund raising, and outreach activities for the Harry R. Hughes Center for Agro-Ecology ensuring a high degree of professionalism, integrity and accuracy in all activities, including print materials, presentations, and workshop/policy sessions involving the Center, its Board of Directors and other stakeholders from the agricultural, forestry, environmental, legislative and governmental communities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a pro-active outreach strategy, based on the Center’s Strategic Plan, working closely with Board members, the Executive Director and Assistant Director;
- Coordinate and conduct media related activities;
- Work with and help organize with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director and Assistant Director key policy and research symposia for the purpose of addressing current controversial issues and facilitating the bringing together of diverse opinions to attain agreement or coalescence of opinions around these issues.
- Oversee and coordinate with the Assistant Director and Development Coordinator, those functions in which marketing and fundraising intertwine for the Center so that the marketing component and the fund raising components will be able to be done in as an effective and efficient way as possible.
Job Qualifications
Qualifications:
Required –
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English or related subject.
Preferred –
- Master’s degree in communications, journalism, English or related subject area.
- At least 2 years experience in a professional environment with a small staff; experience with educational institutions and non-profit organizations.
- Experience in working with a Board of Directors.
- Experience in communications/marketing/fundraising.
- Strong oral and written communications skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
- Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases desirable along with website experience.
- Attention to detail, the ability to organize and process large volumes of work under tight deadlines along with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Experience working with local/regional news media (print, radio, TV).
Salary and Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience. A subsidy will be provided towards a benefits package.
