Job Description
The Pew Charitable Trusts, an independent nonprofit, is driven by the
power of knowledge to solve today's most challenging problems. The Pew
Environment Group (PEG) is the environmental arm of The Pew Charitable
Trusts (PCT). PEG's mission is to promote policies and practices that
protect the global atmosphere, preserve healthy forests and marine
ecosystems. For the past two decades, PEG has been a major force in
driving conservation policy both within the United States and
internationally. The group's work is focused on reducing the scope
and severity of three major global environmental problems: dramatic
changes to the Earth's climate brought about by the increasing
concentration of greenhouse gases in the planet's atmosphere; the
erosion of large wilderness ecosystems that contain a great part of
the world's remaining biodiversity; the destruction of the world's
marine environment, with a particular emphasis on global fisheries.
The Manager for Operations reports to the Deputy Director, Operations
and will be responsible for providing programmatic and operational
support to the PEG management and program staff, including assisting
in the development of plans, grant proposals and reports.
Responsibilties also include working with the PCT Philanthropic
Services to prepare proposals to donors, grant reports and
development of materials for donor meetings; managing human resources
reports and projects including staff and intern recruiting; assisting
with management of the employee performance review process,
orientation of new employees, and other human resource projects as
needed. The officer will supervise one departmental employee.
Job Qualifications
The successful candidate will minimally have a bachelor's degree and
at least eight years of relevant employment experience in a
fast-paced, dynamic environment preferably working with management at
high levels of an organization. Other requirements include
demonstrated project management skills, the capacity to think
strategically, the ability to manage staff and motivate colleagues
through effective leadership, mentoring and coaching, keen attention
to detail and excellent organizational skills, as well as excellent
written and oral communications skills. Demonstrated proficiency in
computer technology including application for project and data
management is also required, and experience working with database
software preferred.
Pew offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits package
including four weeks of vacation, a generous 401(k) plan and flexible
benefit options. For immediate consideration please visit the
