Job Description
The Lecturer will be expected to teach several academic (credit) courses related to the use, training and riding of horses, and to oversee a large and successful extracurricular (non-credit) riding program. These activities will include:
- teaching several undergraduate classes in the equine program
- practicum instruction in non-credit and community programs
- supervision of student instructors
- coordination of ANSC 2699/299 Independent Study courses
- advising and coaching the equestrian teams
- student advising and recruitment
- organizing Intercollegiate Horse Shows
Job Qualifications
A Bachelor degree is required. An M.S. or M.A. in Animal Science, Education or closely related field and/or college level instruction is preferred. Applicants should have a demonstrated proficiency in working with horses in a variety of disciplines and have expertise in several of the above listed areas. A strong hunt seat equitation and/or eventing background is desirable. The individual must be an experienced rider and trainer with excellent horse skills and experience in coaching equine related sports. Demonstrated expertise and interest in horse management is preferred. The individual should demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and good people skills. This position requires evening and weekend hours to support equestrian club and team activities.
