Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the overall direction of the Division Director and the direct supervision of the Senior Economist concerned, will perform economic analysis for the development and implementation of the programme related to Basic Foodstuffs. In particular will:
- prepare analytical papers on the current situation, short and medium term outlook for supply, demand, trade and prices;
- prepare analytical and policy-oriented studies/reports on economic factors, national and international market developments, marketing arrangements and national and international policies;
- analyse and disseminate market information and develop and maintain databases on markets;
- prepare, assist and advise, as required, in the formulation and implementation of technical assistance and development projects and will provide technical backstopping;
- develop and maintain contacts with international and national, public and private institutions for general coordination and exchange of information, including by networking through electronic means;
- contribute to the preparation and servicing of intergovernmental meetings of commodities covered by the Division;
- perform other related duties as required.
Job Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:
- Advanced degree in Economics or Agricultural Economics
- Five years of experience in economic research and policy analysis, (Ph. D. or equivalent degree may substitute for two years of the required experience)
- Working knowledge of English, French or Spanish and limited knowledge of one of the other two
Salary
From US 80,497-101,232 (without dependants) and from 86,237-108,836 (with dependants).
