Job Description
Summary
EnSave designs and implements energy efficiency and pollution prevention programs for the agricultural sector. Typical program offerings include the delivery of energy audits, delivery of energy efficiency incentives, or a combination of both. Clients include state and federal agencies, utilities, and non-profit organizations.
EnSave’s Lead Energy Engineer is responsible for researching agricultural technologies, seeking new opportunities for research work with a goal of bringing new technologies into mainstream programs, determining benefit/costs of program offerings, and assisting with other projects as needed. The Lead Energy Engineer directs and reviews the work of other engineers and analysts, and works closely with our program development and program operations teams. This position requires the ability to accommodate a fluctuating workload that is heavy at times, and to adjust one’s schedule accordingly in order to reach goals. This position reports to the President and CEO.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Research and Analyze end-use agricultural and food processing technologies
- Use manufacturer specifications, technical literature, and available research to assess and calculate energy usage, cost, and other performance characteristics of agricultural and food processing equipment
- Identify pollution prevention technologies and practices that create value for agricultural producers and food processors.
- Research identified pollution prevention technologies and practices in their applicability to the field
- Other duties as assigned
Provide technical resources for proposals and programs
- Develop and/or assist in developing energy savings values for program cost-benefit tests
- Assist in completing and modifying program-specific energy savings tools
- Maintain current information (workpapers, calculations) on energy efficient technologies
- Act as technical resource for program staff and clients
- Support EnSave’s responsibilities in any evaluation, measurement & verification (EM&V) process including providing information to evaluators, choosing and overseeing subcontractors, or other tasks as determined by the contract
- Other duties as assigned
Direct Energy Audit Production Process
· Continually update and improve EnSave’s energy auditing software with latest calculations
· Provide energy audits and technical assistance documents, which may include stamping energy audits with P.E. stamp
· Review energy audits and technical assistance documents prepared by other technical staff
· Continually modify and improve energy audit process for maximum efficiency and accuracy
Job Qualifications
Position Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil, or agricultural engineering
· Professional Engineering license
· Ability to balance speed and accuracy to meet goals
· Ability to make and document appropriate engineering assumptions
· Expertise with MS Excel
· Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
· Effective oral and written communication skills
· Ability to engage in project management work as needed
· Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
· Technical background in energy consulting, energy management, and/or agricultural systems highly desirable
· Travel required
