Job Description
The University of Maine Cooperative Extension is seeking an Assistant Extension Educator for 4-H Youth & Family Development to work in the Cumberland County Office in Portland, Maine. This is a regular, full-time, fiscal year, faculty position with continuing contract (tenure) eligibility. The faculty member in this position will provide educational leadership for 4-H youth and family development in Cumberland County. The faculty member will be the primary educational and organizational resource for 4-H volunteers and youth in Cumberland County. 4-H is a non-formal, experiential education program for youth and adults working with those youth, to develop life skills necessary to be self-directing, productive and contributing members of society. This individual will work with 4-H volunteers and the 4-H Leaders Association to foster an open, educational environment to promote the full development of youth. Job Qualifications
This position requires: Earned Master’s degree in child or family development, human development, elementary or secondary education, adult education, volunteer management or closely related field; demonstrated successful volunteer management skills and clear understanding of the core elements of volunteer administration. This position seeks but does not require: Experience in Extension education program development; demonstrated successful supervisory experience; experience in grant writing.
