Job Description
The Research & Development Technologist focuses on the development and launch of new pre-cooked, center-of-the plate entree items including the actualization of desired flavor, texture and appearance profiles within the cost and quality constraints provided. Project and product involvement will extend from ideation through production-floor test runs and final production start-up acceptance and ongoing manufacturing operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the R&D Director, executes against new product and package design, formulation and development process.
- Ensures product formulations, specifications and implementation meet corporate and client requirements relative to cost, quality and consistency.
- Ensures new products and packaging are one time and executable.
- Identifies opportunities to improve existing processes and packing methods, efficiency and productivity.
- Assists client's technical staff with product design.
- Assists Quality and Production Teams with resolution of process control and product quality opportunities.
- Leverage involvement and technical expertise to improve facility health, safety and sanitation measures.
- Contributes to overall facility regulatory compliance.
- Performs other duties consistent with position.
Job Qualifications
Students Graduating 12/08 or 5/09; Food Science major preferred.
Other Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, Agriculture or similar discipline.
- Prior experience in food formulation and processing (meat focus desired).
- Awareness of related packaging technologies.
- Strong verbal and written English skills.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook.
Salary
50-75k DOE
