Job Description
The Biofuels business is seeking to appoint an Agricultural Crop Specialist to provide expert agricultural technical support on US lignocellulosic feedstocks. This role will lead the development of appropriate agricultural practices and ensure appropriate agricultural performance of the business' cellulosic feedstock investments.
The Biofuels business is seeking to introduce a new feedstock platform in the US and we are challenged to develop a compelling business model for farmers and land owners. Key to creating this model and ensuring farmer and land owner buy in is developing a keen understanding of various energy grass feedstocks.This includes having the appropriate feedstock performance data and production practice information as well as credible expertise to lead engagements with agricultural partners. Thus the role will be instrumental in the development and successful implementation of the model.
Accountabilities:
- Design and interpretation of crop performance, agronomic practice, harvest and storage trials to support feedstock supply strategy
- Working with partners to ensure delivery of trials that will provide information of an appropriate quality to support decisions
- Identify and promote agricultural/technical opportunities to reduce costs of feedstock production
- Become BP's technical expert on energy grass production
- Support the assessment of land options for the supply of energy grass feedstocks to future cellulosic biofuels facilities
- Support the negotiation of land options to create a pool of investment/partnership options

Agricultural/technology degree
