Biography
After receiving his doctorate, Timmons was an assistant professor at North Carolina State University, and then joined the Cornell faculty in 1983. He is a member of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers and the World Agriculture Society, and is a registered professional engineer in New York and North Carolina. Timmons now serves as the president for the Aquacultural Engineering Society.
Research Interests
"Our research is focused on the design of the microclimate affecting farm animals and fish. Animals and fish can be viewed as biological systems that convert energy in the form of feed into energy in the form of meat, eggs, and milk. We are concerned with the overall efficiency of this process as affected by the animals' environment and with methods of environmental control. Topics of interest include environmental engineering, ventilation and structural design, animal bioenergetics, and aquaculture."
