Agriculture has been an integral part of Cornell University since its founding in 1865. Even though the College of Agriculture was formed in 1888, it was only in 1904 that the New York State College of Agriculture was officially established under the leadership of Liberty Hyde Bailey. Recently, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences commemorated 100 years of excellence in teaching, research, and extension by building for the future and embracing new strategic directions set by the University.
