104) Block Prints of 15th Century Grape and Wine Scenes
Celebrate the grape and wine art of the 15th Century with two hand-rubbed block print reproductions. These two are linoleum block reproductions of the original classic 15th century wood block prints by the German printer Peter Drach of Speier. Drach produced several wood blocks to illustrate the 1490 printing book on rural life Ruralia Commoda by Petrus de Crescentiis originally written in 1305. The reproductions, representing harvest and crush, were transferred to linoleum block, hand-carved and hand-rub printed by Professor Alan Lakso, viticulturist at Cornell University. Damiani Wine Cellars is a limited production winery focused on producing small-batch vinifera-based wines.
